Here With Me by Samatha Young

Settled in the tranquil remoteness of the Scottish Highlands, Ardnoch Estate caters to the rich and famous. It is as unattainable and as mysterious as its owner —ex-Hollywood leading man Lachlan Adair—and it's poised on the edge of a dark scandal.

After narrowly escaping death, police officer Robyn Penhaligon leaves behind her life in Boston in search of some answers. Starting with Mac Galbraith, the Scottish father who abandoned her to pursue his career in private security. To re-connect with Mac, Robyn will finally meet a man she’s long resented. Lachlan Adair. Hostility instantly brews between Robyn and Lachlan. She thinks the head of the Adair family is high-handed and self-important. And finding closure with Mac is proving more difficult than she ever imagined. Robyn would sooner leave Ardnoch, but when she discovers Mac is embroiled in a threat against the Adairs and the exclusive members of the estate, she finds she’s not yet ready to give up on her father.

Determined to ensure Mac’s safety, Robyn investigates the disturbing crimes at Ardnoch, forcing her and Lachlan to spend time together. Soon it becomes clear a searing attraction exists beneath their animosity, and temptation leads them down a perilous path.
While they discover they are connected by something far more addictive than passion, Lachlan cannot let go of his grip on a painful past: a past that will destroy his future … if the insidious presence of an enemy lurking in the shadows of Ardnoch doesn’t do the job first.

Thank you to ValentinePR for the chance to read this book early.
I'm a big Samantha Young fan - I lover her Dublin Street series, Hart's Boardwalk, True Immortality series as well as her stand alone novels Hero and Much Ado About You.  So I was very much looking forward to this release.
And I was not disappointed.
This was a bit of a different book to Samantha Young's other books - a mystery, thriller with the steamy romance I've come to love from Samantha Young's books.
I loved Robyn - she was such a strong female character. Seriously kick butt! But that she still has her vulnerabilities.  She's American and travels to Scotland to try and fix her relationship with her father.  It's there that she stumbles across a terrifying mystery which only escalates with her arrival. Oh and a broody ex-hollywood actor who can't seem to stand the sight of her!
Lachlan is very protective of his family and friends and doesn't trust Robyn.  But she's his friends daughter and despite his protests, she insists on helping investigate the strange goings on.
The chemistry between Robyn and Lachlan was instant! I love me a good enemies to lovers romance and boy was this a good one!  You just knew they were going to give into it, but the tension was killing me.  The build up was so well done!
If you'are a Samantha Young fan you'll love this book but also if you've never read a Samantha Young book before, I think this would be a great place to start!
I can't wait to see where the rest of this series goes.  We've been introduced to a lot of amazing characters and I'm looking forward to seeing whose story is next.
5/5 stars!

My Maddie (Hades Hangmen #8) by Tillie Cole

Not even love can conquer the demons of our pasts...

Flame and Maddie have found solace and safety in one another’s arms, two fractured souls beginning to heal. But no matter how strong their love grows, it can never completely vanquish the demons of their pasts. These demons are dormant, not defeated.

Now a new enemy threatens the Hangmen, and a new revelation threatens the peace Maddie and Flame hold so dear. Flame is fighting a multitude of wars – against the club’s new foe, against the horrors of his past, and against his fears – but the fire in his blood may be the only victor.

As Flame begins to spiral into his own personal hell, it is up to Maddie to bring her husband back into her heart. To remind him that, together, they can face any obstacle standing in their way. To show him that no one and nothing can tear them apart again.

His Maddie.
Her Flame.
The fight for their forever.

Dark Contemporary Romance. Contains sexual situations, violence, sensitive and taboo subjects, offensive language and mature topics. Recommended for age 18 years and up.

Cover: ahh this cover makes me so happy!! It's gorgeous!!

It's no secret that I'm a massive Hades Hangmen fan and I have been from the moment I picked up book 1 back in December 2015. And ever since I have devoured each instalment as soon as it's out.
My Maddie was no different.
Souls Unfractured, book 3 in the series is one of stand out favs. I like that we get to see our favourite characters in each book, but to fully re-visit these characters was such a treat.
Flame and Maddie battled fierce demons to be together, and while their love may not make sense to the world it does to them.
But now those demons resurface and threaten the lives they've built together.
The book is them struggling to put those demons to rest.
It was heartbreaking to see Lil' Ash struggling so much after the events of the previous book. I wanted to shake him! I can't wait to see him find his redemption!
Over all this is an absolute must read in the Hades Hangmen series, but it you're a fan, you know that already!
5/5 stars! Un-put-downable!! I devoured it in about 12 hours!

Waiting On Wednesday 'The Starless Sea'

Waiting on Wednesday is all about sharing the books that I'm eagerly waiting to be released.

42730332From the New York Times bestselling author of The Night Circus, a timeless love story set in a secret underground world--a place of pirates, painters, lovers, liars, and ships that sail upon a starless sea.

Zachary Ezra Rawlins is a graduate student in Vermont when he discovers a mysterious book hidden in the stacks. As he turns the pages, entranced by tales of lovelorn prisoners, key collectors, and nameless acolytes, he reads something strange: a story from his own childhood. Bewildered by this inexplicable book and desperate to make sense of how his own life came to be recorded, Zachary uncovers a series of clues -- a bee, a key, and a sword -- that lead him to a masquerade party in New York, to a secret club, and through a doorway to an ancient library, hidden far below the surface of the earth.

What Zachary finds in this curious place is more than just a buried home for books and their guardians -- it is a place of lost cities and seas, lovers who pass notes under doors and across time, and of stories whispered by the dead. Zachary learns of those who have sacrificed much to protect this realm, relinquishing their sight and their tongues to preserve this archive, and also those who are intent on its destruction.

Together with Mirabel, a fierce, pink-haired protector of the place, and Dorian, a handsome, barefoot man with shifting alliances, Zachary travels the twisting tunnels, darkened stairwells, crowded ballrooms, and sweetly-soaked shores of this magical world, discovering his purpose--in both the mysterious book and in his own life.

Five Feet Apart by Rachel Lippincott

39939417Can you love someone you can never touch?

Stella Grant likes to be in control—even though her totally out of control lungs have sent her in and out of the hospital most of her life. At this point, what Stella needs to control most is keeping herself away from anyone or anything that might pass along an infection and jeopardize the possibility of a lung transplant. Six feet apart. No exceptions.

The only thing Will Newman wants to be in control of is getting out of this hospital. He couldn’t care less about his treatments, or a fancy new clinical drug trial. Soon, he’ll turn eighteen and then he’ll be able to unplug all these machines and actually go see the world, not just its hospitals.

Will’s exactly what Stella needs to stay away from. If he so much as breathes on Stella she could lose her spot on the transplant list. Either one of them could die. The only way to stay alive is to stay apart. But suddenly six feet doesn’t feel like safety. It feels like punishment.

What if they could steal back just a little bit of the space their broken lungs have stolen from them? Would five feet apart really be so dangerous if it stops their hearts from breaking too?

Cover:  I absolutely love this cover, I think it’s beautiful.  It’s a simple but stunning cover.

I can’t believe I hadn’t heard of this book sooner.  It came out November 2018 but I didn’t heard about it until January 2019 when I stumbled across the trailer for the movie.
And then I knew I needed to pick up the book- and realised that I had the book on my Kindle as an ARC from NetGalley.  So I picked it up and instantly knew it was a book I was going to enjoy.  What I loved most about it was that we got both protagonists points of view- Stella and Will.  I always find I love a book that bit more if it has more than one characters perspective.
Both protagonists have CF- cystic fibrosis, and as such can’t get close to each other, or they risk infecting each other.
This book reminds me of a cross between The Fault In Our Stars by John Green and Everything Everything by Nicola Yoon, and I mean that in the best way.
This book really grabbed my attention and I loved that!  I think because it was a book that I hadn’t heard much about yet so went into blind.
Can’t wait to check out the movie.
5/5 stars.

And as war draws near, Mairin's strength, spirit, and passion challenge Ewan to conquer his demons—and embrace a love that means more than revenge and land
.
Cover:  Kind of a typical raunchy romance cover, but I do like the colour scheme of it for some reason.

This is a book that I came across completely by chance.  I was on Goodreads one day and saw someone update that they were reading it, read the synopsis, and thought that it sounded like a potentially good historical romance novel, aka my favourite genre.
I downloaded it and started it on a whim and was hooked from the very beginning.  I was completely absorbed.  I loved the writing and the characters.
Normally I go for Regency Romance, but I would say that this has opened a new potential favourite in Highlander Romance.
I loved the book so much that I read it in just over 24 hours, and as soon as I finished it I downloaded the rest of the books in the series.
I also recommend them to a friend, who also devoured them!
This became an instant favourite.
5/5 stars.

A Wish For Us by Tillie Cole

From the author who brought you A Thousand Boy Kisses comes the new emotional novel, A Wish For Us.
A story of music. A story of healing. A story of love conquering all.

Nineteen-year-old Cromwell Dean is the rising star of electronic dance music. Thousands of people adore him. But no one knows him. No one sees the color of his heart.

Until the girl in the purple dress. She sees through the walls he has built to the empty darkness within.

When Cromwell leaves behind the gray skies of England to study music in the South Carolina heat, the last thing he expects is to see her again. And he certainly doesn’t expect that she’ll stay in his head like a song on repeat.

Bonnie Farraday lives for music. She lets every note into her heart, and she doesn’t understand how someone as talented as Cromwell can avoid doing the same. He’s hiding from his past, and she knows it. She tries to stay away from him, but something keeps calling her back.

Bonnie is the burst of color in Cromwell’s darkness. He’s the beat that makes her heart skip.

But when a shadow falls over Bonnie, it’s up to Cromwell to be her light, in the only way he knows how. He must help her find the lost song in her fragile heart. He must keep her strong with a symphony only he can compose.

A symphony of hope.
A symphony of love.
A symphony of them.

39093527Cover:  I’m a big fan of this cover, I think it compliments the story well and is just beautiful to look at.
I’ve made no secret of the fact that I’m a huge Tillie Cole fan.  I absolutely adore her Hades Hangmen series, Sweet series and her stand alone novels.  I recently read Sick Fux and was actually disappointed, which made me quite sad as I’ve loved all the other books of hers I’ve read.  So I was both nervous and excited to read A Wish For Us.
I was hooked from the very beginning.  I did not want to put this book down.  It gripped me.
Such a beautiful story.  I’m a sucker for a beautifully done romance, and this did not disappoint.  It reminded me of one of my favourite books of Tillie Cole’s, Sweet Soul.
Cromwell is a brooding male protagonist.  He’s a EDM DJ God, and Bonnie is a spirited girl with a love of music.
The two of them clash, but they have more in common than they know.
A beautiful story that had me rooting for Cromwell and Bonnie, it brought tears to my eyes.  Probably my favourite book of the year so far!
5/5 stars.
