Waiting On Wednesday: Romanov

This week the book that I'm waiting to be released is Romanov by Nadine Brandes, a spin on the story of Anastasia.
Released 7th May.
40590407
The history books say I died.
They don’t know the half of it.

Anastasia “Nastya” Romanov was given a single mission: to smuggle an ancient spell into her suitcase on her way to exile in Siberia. It might be her family’s only salvation. But the leader of the Bolshevik army is after them . . . and he’s hunted Romanov before.

Nastya’s only chances of survival are to either release the spell, and deal with the consequences, or enlist help from Zash, the handsome soldier who doesn’t act like the average Bolshevik. Nastya’s never dabbled in magic before, but it doesn’t frighten her as much as her growing attraction for Zash. She likes him. She thinks he might even like her . . .

That is, until she’s on one side of a firing squad . . . and he’s on the other.

QUESTION FRIDAY 13/07/18 'PRICE'

Question Friday is a new segment I want to start on this blog, where I just answer a bookish related question.  Please feel free to join in and leave your answers below.

This week's question is;
Q) Does the price of a book effect your decision whether to buy it or not?

A) I do like to shop around for books prices- everyone has a budget.  I normally check between Amazon and the Book Depository and some the supermarket charts.  And of course sometimes (the majority of the time) the kindle version is most often cheaper by quite a bit.  So while the price of a book doesn't necessarily stop me from buying it, I just shop around.

QUESTION FRIDAY - 13/07/2018 'UNREAD BOOKS'

Question Friday is a new segment I want to start on this blog, where I just answer a bookish related question.  Please feel free to join in and leave your answers below.

This week's question is;

Q) What proportion of the books you own are unread?

A) A lot.  Like a lot a lot.  Just after Christmas I actually went through my shelves, as I'd filled them plus had loads of books in piles on the floor.  And it was getting ridiculous.  So many of the books on the shelves (or indeed on the floor) I'd never read because they're books that have arrived for review that just aren't my genre's (crimes novels, mysterys, etc), or books that I'd read and not enjoyed.  So what was the point in keeping them?  So I donated them to charity.  But even with this huge clear out, I still own a lot of unread books- possibly 200ish?

Waiting On Wednesday 'Every Time We Fall In Love'

Waiting on Wednesday is all about sharing the books that I'm eagerly waiting to be released.

This week the book that I'm really looking forward to being released is Every Time We Fall In Love by Bella Andre, book 18 in The Sullivans series.  I absolutely love Bella Andre's books, and The Sullivans is such a fabulous family series, where it branches off into the Seattle, San Francisco and New York families, so I can't wait to delve into this next instalment.  Released 18th July.

40032317Harry Sullivan has always put his family first, even when it meant losing Molly—his one true love. He’s never been able to forget her, even after fifteen years. Now that his siblings are all blissfully happy, Harry hopes it’s not too late for his own happily-ever-after. But then his doorbell rings…and one look at the teenage girl standing on his doorstep changes absolutely everything.

Molly never thought she’d see Harry Sullivan again, so she's beyond stunned when her fifteen-year-old daughter brings him back into her life. At eighteen, Harry was already strong, sexy, and honorable. And now that he's even more handsome, more brilliant, more loyal and caring? Molly can't stop herself from falling in love with him all over again. Especially when his kisses and the sizzling attraction between them are hotter than ever.

But with more at stake now than they ever thought possible, will they be able to move beyond the mistakes they both made in the past, and fall in love forever this time?

EVERY TIME WE FALL IN LOVE is part of Bella Andre's New York Times and USA Today #1 bestselling series about The Sullivans. While it can easily be read as a stand-alone story, you'll likely enjoy reading the other books, too.

QUESTION FRIDAY 06/07/2018 'HABITS'

Question Friday is a new segment I want to start on this blog, where I just answer a bookish related question.  Please feel free to join in and leave your answers below.

This week's question is;

Q)What do your friends think of your reading habits? Are they non-readers?

A) My close friends are used to me by now to be honest.  They know I've always got a book on the go, that they'll find one in my bag.  That if I'm really enjoying a book they'll hear all about it, even if they don't want to.  They doubt think it's quirky but they're used to it.

Gabriel spent years beating himself up over his last encounter with Nikki. He’d wanted her then, but for reasons that were bad for both of them. Things have now changed. QUESTION FRIDAY! 15/06/2018 MOVIE NIGHT

This week's question is;

Q) What is the best and worst book to movie adaptations you've seen?

A) I always look forward to book to movie adaptations with excited and trepidation in equal measure.

Some of my favourite book to movie adaptations are;
The Fault In Our Stars by John Green- I thought it was a great one.  It kept all the most important parts of the book.  It was both funny and heartbreaking, and the characters were so well cast.

Me Before You by Jojo Moyes- one of my all time favourite books, and I felt it was transferred to the screen really well.  Again the casting was fantastic.  I laughed and I cried at the movie, just like I did with the book.  There were some scenes from the book that I wished had been in there, but overall I didn't feel too cut up about it.

The Martian by Andy Weir- I didn't love or hate the book.  I enjoyed it but found the scientific descriptions very heavy going, whereas in the movie, I found it much easier to take in.  This is one instance where I actually preferred the movie over the book which is a rare occurrence indeed.

As for the worst adaptations, Ella Enchanted by Gail Caron Levine is one.  I love the book so much, and the movie is...different.  I don't hate the movie but it definitely stays from the book.  It's more of a comedy movie, and I loved it when I was younger, but as I've got older, I prefer the book over the movie.

QUESTION FRIDAY! 08/06/18 BOOK TRAVELS

This week's question is;

Q) Do your books go everywhere with you?

A) I nearly always have a book with me.  I use a lot of public transport so use that time to read.  I've either got my physical book with me, or my Kindle Paperwhite.
