The Others freed the  cassandra sangue  to protect the blood prophets from exploitation, not realizing their actions would have dire consequences. Now the fragile seers are in greater danger than ever before—both from their own weaknesses and from those who seek to control their divinations for wicked purposes. In desperate need of answers, Simon Wolfgard, a shape-shifter leader among the Others, has no choice but to enlist blood prophet Meg Corbyn’s help, regardless of the risks she faces by aiding him.

Meg is still deep in the throes of her addiction to the euphoria she feels when she cuts and speaks prophecy. She knows each slice of her blade tempts death. But Others and humans alike need answers, and her visions may be Simon’s only hope of ending the conflict.

For the shadows of war are deepening across the Atlantik, and the prejudice of a fanatic faction is threatening to bring the battle right to Meg and Simon’s doorstep…

Cover:  Another beautiful cover.  I love that it matches the first two books.

Oh my god.  I waited an entire year for this book.  My most anticipated book of this year.  And now I'm so sad it's over.
I love this series.
I make no bones about it.  I rant and rave about it to everyone and anyone that will still listen to me.
I can't even pinpoint what it is about this series- the characters are wonderful, the world is so different and captivating and the writing just hooks me from page one.
It was great to see all the characters again, and while this installment wasn't action packed- it definitely still had pace and things were happening....INTERESTING THINGS.  It has set a lot up for the next book- the interaction between the humans and the terre indigene is set to change.  Danger is most definitely afoot.
I have never wanted a romance between two characters to happen more in my entire life, than I want one to happen between Simon and Meg.  I love them.  They're such good friends and I love every single interaction between them in this book, but EVERYONE CAN SEE THEY'RE MEANT TO BE TOGETHER.  It's weird because I love them as they are, but I need more from them too.  The frustration is very real.
When I'm reading a book in this series, I never want it to end.  I want to keep turning pages forever.
All in all, a fantastic book and I cannot wait for book 4, Marked In Flesh.  It's a long wait.
If you haven't picked up this series, you really must.
5/5 stars.
