Booking Through Thursday 23/01/14

Booking Through Thursday is a weekly meme hosted by Booking Through Thursday and a different question is posted every week.

If there was one book you could make sure nobody ever read again … what would it be? And why?
This is a really difficult one because I can't honestly say I would say to someone 'Don't read this book' because I realise that liking or hating a book is subjective.  There have been books I've disliked that others have hated and vice versa.  On this blog, when it comes to reviewing books I haven't liked I always try to include something I liked, because at the end of the day, an author put hard work into producing it.
If I didn't like it,  I say so, but I also try to balance it out by giving my opinion of who might like, 'if you like, you might like this' kind of thing.

  1. You are right but I think no one ought to waste his/her time reading a book which does nothing for them....

    1. True. But I don't think I have the right to point blank tell someone not to read something. It's up to them to decide if it's not for them.

  3. I agree. I certainly say so if I didn't like a book, but I try to give spoiler free reasons why it didn't work for me - and then let then decide if it sounds like something they'd have problems with. My post can be found here

  4. I only warn people against a book when I know their tastes are similar to mine, because I know they won't enjoy it. But even then I don't explicitly tell them not to :) Here's my BBT post, hope you have a good end to the week!
