Booking Through Thursday 20/10/2016

Booking Through Thursday is a weekly meme hosted by Booking Through Thursday and a different question is posted every week

Somebody walks up to you and says, “I need a really good book to read–any genre. What do you recommend?”
What’s the first book off the top of your head?

I would say It Ain't Me Babe by Tillie Cole, the first book in the Hades Hangmen series.  It's one of my all time favourite books, and I try to pimp it out to everyone.
It's an adult romance, but it is quite dark.  Set in the world of cults and motorcycle clubs.
Tillie Cole#s writing is amazing- and it hooks you right in.

Booking Through Thursday 01/09/2016

Readers read, it’s true, but they write? Do you? Write, that is?

Unfortunately I don't.  I've attempted it several times, but I just don't have the motivation or the committment to write.  I have ideas, start them and don't finish them.  I used to enjoy writing essays during my A-levels but don't have the need anymore.

Booking Through Thursday 18/08/16 'Mind Blowing'

Booking Through Thursday is a weekly meme hosted by Booking Through Thursday and a different question is posted every week.

What’s the most mind-blowing, world-changing book you’ve ever read? (Or article, poem, whatever.)

This was a tough one because there have been so many amazing books that have blown my mind in totally different ways but most recently I would say Me Before You by Jojo Moyes.  I found it a very emotional story, tackling a controversial subject but with such humour through out, and a truly remarkable heroine that I just love.

Booking Through Thursday 04/08/16 'I Don't Read'

Booking Through Thursday is a weekly meme hosted by Booking Through Thursday and a different question is posted every week.

What is your response when somebody tells you “I don’t read.”
'This conversation is over.'

I'm just kidding.  Normally I'm like, what- really?!?!?I'm a firm believer that everyone is a reader, they just haven't found the right book.

Booking Through Thursday 30/06/2016 'Marginalia'

Booking Through Thursday is a weekly meme hosted byBooking Through Thursday and a different question is posted every week.
Do you write in your books? Highlight? In all books or just things like college textbooks?
I don't write in my books.  It's the equivalent of dog-earring pages.
I did while I while I was studying for my A-level in English Language and Literature.  But I bought copies especially for annotating.  I wouldn't ever write in my normal books, if I wanted to annotate something, I would use sticky tabs.

Booking Through Thursday 12/05/16 'Weeding'

Booking Through Thursday is a weekly meme hosted byBooking Through Thursday and a different question is posted every week.

What do you do with books you weed out of your library? If you’re like me, you find this VERY hard to do, but you want your old books to have a good, happy life somewhere … so where do you send them? What do you do with them?

I really struggle with removing books from my shelves- even if they are ones I haven’t particularly liked.  I don’t even know why I struggle as much as I do.
I’ve tried to remedy the situation, out of sheer necessity, because of running out of bookshelf space.  And last year I managed a huge book unhaul of around 150 books.  Once I got into it, it was much less painful than I expected.  I think there’s the only way I could part with books- en mass.
The books that I parted with, I asked friends and family if they were interested in any of them, and the ones that were left I gave to a charity that ships them abroad.

Booking Through Thursday 05/05/16 'Unorthodox'

Booking Through Thursday is a weekly meme hosted byBooking Through Thursday and a different question is posted every week.

What’s the most unique thing you’ve ever used a book for? (Emergency door stop? Insulation? Building blocks?)

Mine is going to be a must boring answer- because I can't think of anything!  For the most part- my books live on shelves, I read them, and that's it.  I carry my current read wherever I go.

Booking Through Thursday 10/03/2016 #2

Booking Through Thursday is a weekly meme hosted byBooking Through Thursday and a different question is posted every week.

Spring is coming unusually fast this year (at least here in the Northeast). Do your reading habits change as we get into the warmer months?

I don't think my reading habits really change.  I may pick books considered 'beach reads' - light, fluffy romance reads, but I do read them year round.

I missed last week's post, so decided to post it today!

Do you own multiple copies of any books? Why? Is it the format? Size? Just because you love it?

I do own a few books in multiple editions.   Some books just seem to multiply on my shelves.

There are some where I've been sent an advance copy, and then either been sent or have bought a finished copy.

There are some books that I've read that have become favourites.
For example I have 5 copies of The Fault In Our Stars by John Green (Which I admit is exscessive).
Unsigned US hardback.
Signed US hardback.
Signed UK paperback.
Movie Tie-In edition.
Audio book as read by John Green.

3 Copies of Paper Towns by John Green-
Signed UK paperback
Signed US hardback
UK movie-tie in edition

2 copies of Looking For Alaska by John Green
UK paperback
US Anniversary hardback edition

I also have two copies of Me Before You by Jojo Moyes-
UK paperback and the US hardback....and I will probably add the movie tie-in edition when it is released.

For me, the biggest reason I end up with multiple editions is because I've loved that book so much, and it's the publisher's fault for releasing so many editions!!! Lol.

Sometimes a book becomes a favourite, and I have the paperback, but I want a more durable hardback etc.

Booking Through Thursday '2015 Favourites'

Booking Through Thursday is a weekly meme hosted byBooking Through Thursday and a different question is posted every week.

What were your favorite books of 2015?
How many books did you read this year? Are you happy with the amount of reading you got done? Wish you’d had more time? (I know I always do!)

I found so many new authors and new favourite books this year.
I will actually have a Top 10 Books of 2015 video going up on my YouTube Channel tomorrow.
But to name a few favourites-
Vision in Silver by Anne Bishop
Hades Hangmen series by Tillie Cole
Sweet Home/Carillo Boys series by Tillie Cole
Raze by Tillie Cole (see a theme there?)
Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas
Hero by Samantha Young
Me Before You by Jojo Moyes
Beyond the Kingdoms by Chris Colfer

I've currently read 100 books this year, might be able to squeeze in one more before tonight is done.
I am happy with the amount of reading I got done, but it is down on the last couple of years.  But as long as I make 100 I'm happy.
I always wish there was more time for reading than there is.

Booking Through Thursday 24/12/2015 'Gift'

Booking Through Thursday is a weekly meme hosted byBooking Through Thursday and a different question is posted every week.

What books are/were you hoping to get as gifts this holiday season?
Which books DID you get?
Are you happy, or did you rush right out to your local bookstore to pick up the book you’d hoped you’d be
getting?

Books will always be the best present I could receive- but friends and family often have NO idea which books I own, what I don't or what I like or don't like- so books are normally a no go for them.
However there are some friends that I have made through BookTube and blogging, and we exchange bookish gifts at this time of year.
One such friend got me the best gift this year- a signed edition of Outlander by Diana Gabaldon.  Truly one of the best gifts I have ever received.
